PR Medical Spa features the latest technology to treat a variety of skin conditions. Our Alma Harmony XL system’s light-based laser treats a variety of skin conditions. IPL (intense pulsed light) uses different wavelengths of light that are customized to best fit the patients’ needs, effectively treating brown and red colorations.
What does IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treat?
- Sun damage, age spots, freckles
- Melasma and hormonal hyperpigmentation
- Acne and enlarged pores
- Skin redness including rosacea
- Spider veins and broken capillaries
- Skin discolorations
- Scar discoloration
How does it work?
IPL, also called a “photofacial,” is a light-based therapy that targets and improves a variety of skin colorations. Depending on the condition or color being treated, specific wavelengths of light targets, heats, and disperses pigmentation allowing your body to dissolve the unwanted cells. As an added bonus, IPL can also provide collagen stimulation, improve acne, and reduction in pore size.
IPL yields minimal downtime and most patients resume normal activities almost immediately. Post treatment, patients can experience redness, and a mild “heat” to the treated area that usually subsides within 24 hours. When treating pigmented areas, we can expect some degree of flaking within the treated area over the course of 7-14 days after treatment depending on the area treated. Vascular conditions may become increasingly reddened and some swelling may be noticed, but also subsides over a short period of time.
How many treatments are needed?
Although results are seen very quickly after just one treatment, treatment number will vary depending on the issue being treated. Mild sun damage and redness can be much improved in just one treatment. Increased sun damage or areas with an abundance of vessels may require multiple treatments to reach full satisfaction. A consultation is needed prior to your first treatment to ensure that IPL is right for you. At PR Medical Spa, our team will customize a laser and medical grade skin care regimen to enhance and maintain your results.
We look forward to helping our patients achieve and maintain healthy, youthful skin. For more information about what IPL can do for your skin, please contact our office to set up your consultation.

I have always had a good experience with Dr. Park and his staff. He has taken great care of me and correcting my problems. He came highly recommended and I would in turn highly recommend him to my friends.
