Mommy Makeover at The Park Clinic - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

Do you know what a "Mommy Makeover" entails? Most people have a general idea but we wanted to make sure we took an in depth look at the procedure in order to provide some clarity for those women considering the procedure. The goal of a mommy makeover is to restore the shape and appearance of a woman's body after childbearing. Many women notice changes in their bodies post-pregnancy. There are many areas of the body that can be addressed, most commonly the breasts, abdomen, waist, genitalia and buttocks. A mommy makeover is typically performed as a single stage procedure.
Here Dr. Ryan Rebowe sits down to give a quick overview of the multiple procedures and combinations that can be done when performing a "Mommy Makeover". If you would like a consultation with Dr. Rebowe so that you could have additional questions answered, please give us a call at (251) 340-6600 or email us at [email protected]

Quotes from the episode:

"Most people have their own spectrum; you're not going to achieve something extreme without doing something extreme." - Dr. Chris Park

"The best patient is already pretty healthy, already paying attention to their body. They're not just coming in expecting surgery to fix everything." - Dr. Chris Park

"The Brazilian buttock lift is when you take fat from elsewhere and inject it into the buttock. You sculpt the hips, the waist, the abdomen, and then you are making the buttock larger. But it's the combination makes for the dramatic change." - Dr. Chris Park

"When you do liposuction in an area, you are removing fat cells. Nobody gains weight in other areas because we did liposuction." - Dr. Chris Park

"If your problem area has always been your stomach, and you come in for liposuction, and we make your stomach look so much better, a lot of those patients may not keep dieting and exercising because their area looks good. But, then they will gain that 10 pounds, but instead of one and a half of it go into their abdomen, all of it goes elsewhere." - Dr. Chris Park

"Fat grafting has exploded in the last 20, 30 years." - Dr. Chris Park

"Essentially injecting fat, we're pulling fat bulbs out of a patient, like tulip bulbs, and you're planting them back somewhere else." - Dr. Chris Park

"At a minimum, you look better where we took the fat from, and then the fat is just adding it somewhere else." - Dr. Chris Park

"Probably half of the work I do is insurance related, but it's not usually the stuff that everyone wants to talk about." - Dr. Chris Park

"While board certified is just a term, and every medical specialty has that, plastic surgery, the American Board of Plastic Surgery, really takes it upon themselves to look out for the safety and the reputation of plastic surgery in general." - Dr. Chris Park

"Just because a physician says 'I do plastic surgery or fat grafting' or whatever, it doesn't mean that they are a plastic surgeon." - Dr. Chris Park

"I'm here to keep people safe and treat people the way that I would want my own family members treated." - Dr. Chris Park

"My clinic, it's not Hollywood, we're here to help people. And so, there is really no age limit as long as you have an ethical and caring surgeon who's not just trying to run a business." - Dr. Chris Park

Quotes from the episode:

"I do everything all over the body, but I spend more than half my life on the breast." - Dr. Chris Park

"There's cosmetic breast surgery, implants, and lifts. There are the breast reductions which can be considered medically necessary, and sometimes covered by insurance, and then you have breast reconstruction after cancer in women. And then there's even male breast surgery." - Dr. Chris Park

"We have better implants than we've ever had in the last ten years or so and have numerous sizes, shapes, profiles, different textures. It's incredible what we have and how we can even customize. That's why it's not a one-size-fits-all breast implant." - Dr. Chris Park

"The long and short of it is silicone implants feel better than saline." - Dr. Chris Park

"I'm going to make a range of recommendations that are all going to look good. I'm not going to pick one that's ever going to be too small or way too big, and patients can choose their own flavor." - Dr. Chris Park

"I'm not going to do something that just destroys the tissues and the skin." - Dr. Chris Park

"My goal is to make you happy, so the first thing I do is listen because I'm not trying to make breasts that I'm going to like the way they look." - Dr. Chris Park

"Most people are off pain medicine in two or three days, and getting back to normal and we ask you not to lift anything heavier than 10 pounds for two weeks." - Dr. Chris Park

"The beauty of a breast reduction is it's a breast lift as well, so if a woman happens to have a large enough breast, then we can do a breast reduction with a breast lift." - Dr. Chris Park

"We're not removing the breast. It's not like a cancer operation. Our goal is to make a prettier breast as well, with a more controllable size." - Dr. Chris Park

"A breast lift tightens everything up and puts the nipple where it's supposed to be." - Dr. Chris Park

"A reduction would be removing volume, and then implants can be adding volume, but the volume we add with an implant is usually in the upper portion of the breast." - Dr. Chris Park

"There are patients out there that need a breast reduction and an implant." - Dr. Chris Park

"Certain patients need a breast reduction, and they get approved by insurance very often, and then certain patients don't meet the insurance criteria, but they still get the benefit of the relief." - Dr. Chris Park

"Breast implants, unless you've had a mastectomy for medically-necessary reasons such as cancer, are rarely covered by insurance." - Dr. Chris Park

Male Botox - "Brotox" - With Dr. Rebowe at The Park Clinic

Most people associate Botox treatments with just women, however, Botox is becoming more and more popular among the male population. In this video, Dr. Ryan Rebowe discusses why men may even need Botox treatments more than women. Much of that has to do with stronger facial muscles that create deeper frown and furrow lines that show up earlier than they do with most women.

Both Dr. Rebowe and Dr. Park have a large following of male Botox consumers. If you are interested in speaking with one of them about the treatment be sure to give us a call today at (251) 340-6600.

"Plastic Surgeons help out with trauma, cancer, and cosmetic procedures. We operate head to toe on everything from three week olds to 100-year-olds. It's why I chose plastic surgery." - Dr. Park

"Even if you're not a good candidate for surgery, whether or not it's other medical problems, or maybe you're just not quite ready for surgery there are other things that we can do to temporarily make it better, or give a new outlook on life, providing a better way to carry yourself." - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

"There are so many things in terms of non-surgical options between injectables, lasers, equipment, or even a good skin regimen to really change the way a person looks and feels." - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

"I've got some breaking news - you're not going to figure out what Plastic Surgery you need on Dr. Google." - Dr. Park

"Hand rejuvenation, it's a new frontier in plastic surgery." - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

"It's nice to have two brains thinking about what we can do and what we can offer our patients." - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

The Park Clinic in Mobile and Fairhope, Alabama

Quotes from the Episode:

"Dr. Park and I are expanding the gulf coast reconstruction focus a bit more on microsurgical reconstruction, especially of the breast." - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

"Dr. Park and I both love doing reconstructive surgery of all kinds." - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

"We both focus on cancer reconstruction, especially breast cancer, but we love doing all kinds of reconstruction." - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

"Abdominally based breast reconstruction takes tissue from their abdomen and transfer it to their chest and make them a new breast out of their abdominal tissue. It's the tissue that we would typically throw away during a tummy tuck." - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

"Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction has an easier recovery for the patient because we're using the microsurgery to disconnect and reconnect the tissue. We do not have to disrupt the muscle." - Dr. Chris Park

"There are two basic ways to reconstruct breasts, and one is with a tissue expander and implant the others is with your tissue or what we call autologous tissue. In terms of microsurgical breast reconstruction, you can take fat from a lot of different areas." - Dr. Chris Park

"The fat from your abdomen matches the feel of a breast a lot better than your buttock tissue. Buttock tissue is very hard and almost brick-like in some women." - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

"Some women are candidates for breast implants after breast-conserving therapy." - Dr. Ryan Rebowe

"It's easier to get coverage after a mastectomy for both breasts. It is more difficult and not a guarantee that insurance will cover it after a partial breast procedure. It can be done, but it's not automatic." - Dr. Chris Park

Breast Implant Safety Discussion - The Park Clinic Podcast

On this episode, Dr. Christopher Park and Dr. Ryan Rebowe discuss breast implant safety, concerns about silicone implant ruptures, cancer fears, and illness claims associated with this common procedure. Key Takeaways:

There's overwhelming medical and anecdotal evidence to support the safety of breast implants.

Breast implants can last for a very long time; the average lifespan is quoted for around ten years, but this is based on old data, and modern day implants can last a lot longer.

Breast Implant Illness Syndrome symptoms share symptoms with common medical issues and conditions.

Studies show that an overwhelming majority of women have absolutely no issues with their breast implants.

If you think you are experiencing illness or discomfort from a new or existing breast implant, consult a qualified plastic surgeon for an examination.

To rupture a modern silicone breast implant would take an extreme amount of force and major trauma.

First and foremost, plastic surgeons are doctors first, and your safety is the number one priority for any practice.

Quotes From The Epidsode:

"If we see a patient that honestly feels like they have something related to an implant, we're happy to listen, and we're happy to take that implant out." - Dr. Park

"If you just took a breast implant, put it on the table and cut it in half, the silicone wouldn't run out of the breast implant capsule like a liquid." - Dr. Rebowe

"The best way to diagnose an implant rupture is actually with an MRI, but we usually start with an exam and ultrasound." - Dr. Rebowe

"If we see a patient that honestly feels like they have something related to an implant, we're happy to listen, and we're happy to take that implant out." - Dr. Park

"I think it takes going to a plastic surgeon, especially one who has seen some of these issues before to know what to do and what the best way is to move forward." - Dr. Rebowe

Inability to sleep, poor appetite or excessive appetite, hair loss, and a whole laundry list of symptoms are among those that some people are attributing a condition something called Breast Implant Illness Syndrome. - Dr. Park

We do not have any studies, absolutely a hundred percent proving that the symptoms of Breast Implant Illness Syndrome are attributable to breast implants. - Dr. Rebowe

There are case reports in the literature to suggest that removing breast implants can help Breast Implant Illness Syndrome symptoms, although it does not always do that. - Dr. Rebowe

Some types of budgetary plastic surgery where you travel may not even be a real plastic surgeon. - Dr. Park

Patients should see a plastic surgeon every year for a breast implant check-up. - Dr. Park

If you have cosmetic implants, routine implant rupture screening with an ultrasound or an MRI will not be covered by health insurance. - Dr. Rebowe

The Park Clinic - First Person POV Breast Augmentation Surgery (x 2)

Curious what a breast augmentation surgery looks like in action? Check out our video where we take you behind the scenes and give you a first hand look at a breast implant surgery.

There are many different types of breast augmentation surgeries and many different ways that implants can be placed. The different types of procedures used to place breast implants are: trans-axillary, peri-aeriolar, trans-umbilical, or inframammary (sub-pectoral). We have another video that discusses these options in more depth (https://youtu.be/yKMc-DPy0tQ).

In our video, the implant is placed using the inframammary fold (sub-pectoral) technique. The sub-pectoral procedure involves an incision in the fold underneath the breast and tends to allow the surgeon more direct control of implant positioning. About 70 to 80 percent of breast augmentations are performed using an inframammary fold procedure. The incision placement allows for minimal effects on the milk-producing areas of the breast. The same incision may also be used if complications arise or additional surgeries are needed. Inframammary fold augmentation works well for older patients or mothers, since age and pregnancy allows for a natural amount of sag in the breast. This natural sag allows for the surgical incision to be well hidden for most women. Young women, thin women, or women who have not had children yet and have no crease under their breasts may have a more visible scar with this procedure.

The Park Clinic - Breast Lift with Implants & Belt Lipectomy

Check out this time lapse video of Dr. Chris Park of The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery performing a Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift, and Belt Lipectomy procedure all-in-one. If there are multiple areas that a patient wants to address cosmetically, depending on the areas, multiple procedures can be performed during the same surgery (often referred to as a "Mommy Makeover"). This is the case in this video.

Breast augmentation - is a surgical technique to increase the size of the breasts. Any woman that desires a larger breast may be a candidate for breast augmentation if she has realistic expectations. There are other techniques to increase the size of the breasts, but the most trusted technique is placement of an implant surgically. There are multiple options that are discussed and decided during a breast augmentation consultation. It is not uncommon for a breast augmentation procedure to include both breast implants and a breast lift in order for the patient to achieve maximum cosmetic satisfaction.

Breast Lift - Sagging or ptotic breasts occur with age, pregnancy, and weight fluctuations, but can be improved with a breast lift, or mastopexy. In the case of mild ptosis or deflation hypomastia, a breast implant alone may correct the deformity. Moderate ptosis can be corrected by excision of skin in a doughnut fashion around the areola. More severe sag will require a vertical scar or anchor shaped scar below the nipple to tighten the loose breast around the elevated nipple.

Belt Lipectomy - All layers of the abdominal wall (skin, fat, fascia, and muscle) are affected by changes occurring with age, pregnancy, and weight change. A circumferential body lift, or belt lipectomy, is indicated in patients with excess skin and fat of the abdomen, flanks, and back with laxity and descent of the buttock and hips, often seen after massive weight loss.

This particular procedure is just one of the many different combinations of surgeries that can be done in what is considered a "Mommy Makeover". The procedure in this video took between 3 to 4 hours, however, we sped up the video so that viewers could get the full experience without having to sit through a 3 to 4 hour video. We hope you enjoy! If you have been interested in any of these procedures please give us a call and we would be happy to discuss in depth your concerns and goals. Our cosmetic consults are only $75 and a consult does not require you to book a procedure. A cosmetic consult is where we meet you, discuss your areas of concern in detail, learn about your cosmetic goals, and offer a road map for how to achieve those goals.

Give us a call today and we would be happy to see you in our Mobile office or our Fairhope office - 251.340.6600

Belt Lipectomy/Lower Body Lifts - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

Our Cosmetic Coordinator, Darlene, sits down with Dr. Chris Park and discusses lower body lift procedures. A lower body lift is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin from the outer thighs and buttocks. It is a procedure that commonly is performed in patients who have lost a large amount of weight and have loose sagging skin. This procedure can dramatically tighten the loose skin on the outer thighs and buttocks. This procedure is also commonly called a "belt lipectomy".

What is a lipectomy? A lipectomy is a plastic surgery method that removes fat and skin. You can get a lipectomy nearly anywhere on your body, including common trouble spots like the back of your arms, inner thighs, hips, belly, and more. If you get a tummy tuck, that is technically a lipectomy of the tummy. A belt lipectomy is a removal of said tissue that resides around the belt line.

Labiaplasty & Other Labiaplasty Options at The Park Clinic

Darlene, our Cosmetic Coordinator, sits down with Dr. Christopher Park to discuss vaginal rejuvenation and labiaplasty options at The Park Clinic in Mobile, Alabama. Labiaplasty is one of the fastest growing plastic surgery procedures in the United States, and it is one that Dr. Park and Dr. Rebowe do a lot of, yet there is not a lot of educational content on the procedure for patients to research.

The term vaginal rejuvenation covers several different procedures. It is sometimes called female genital plastic surgery, female genital rejuvenation surgery, female genital cosmetic surgery, vulvovaginal plastic surgery and designer vagina surgery, among other terms. Among the procedures that comprise female genital plastic surgery are labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction, labia majoraplasty, monsplasty and vaginoplasty.

The term labiaplasty refers to a procedure that reduces the length of the labia minora. It is the most commonly performed labiaplasty procedure and it can relieve symptoms women experience from twisting and tugging of the labia. Women opt for surgery for a variety of reasons, including pain from twisting and tugging of the labia when riding a bike or during intercourse, itching, irritation and self-consciousness. The goal of the procedure is to reduce the labia minora so that they don't hang below the hair-bearing labia majora. A labiaplasty may be performed to reduce asymmetry when one is longer than the other, or, more commonly, to reduce the length of both labia so that the labia no longer twist, tug or fall out of a bathing suit. The most common type of labiaplasty is the trim procedure, in which the extra tissue is removed and sewn up directly. Next in popularity is the wedge procedure, which maintains a natural border after a pie-shaped piece of tissue has been removed. Extra folds of the clitoral hood can also be reduced at the same time. Closure is usually done with absorbable sutures. Most patients take a week off from work, during which they can reduce swelling and pain by icing with a cold pack sandwiched between the patient's underpants and an elastic garment, like Spanx. This can be done "twenty minutes on, twenty minutes off." The patient can also lie with her bottom elevated to reduce swelling. Patients can resume wearing tampons or having intercourse after four to six weeks. Trim labiaplasty generally allows for a quicker recovery.

Given both the popularity of the procedure and the privacy and delicacy of the area being treated, many women may not be comfortable talking about the procedure. As with all of the services offered, we encourage patients to ask questions and do research on the procedure if it is an area of concern for you.

Fat Transfer vs. Breast Implants for Breast Augmentation

Most people are very familiar with breast implants, but did you know there was another option for breast enhancement? Dr. Ryan Rebowe of The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery in Mobile, Alabama sits down to discuss fat grafting options.

Fat transfer breast augmentation essentially uses liposuction to take fat from other parts of your body and inject it into your breasts. This is a breast augmentation option for women who are looking for a relatively small increase in breast size and would prefer natural results. Fat grafting has been used for years in cosmetic surgery, especially as a natural filler in facial plastic surgery. Advances in fat transfer techniques have led to fat grafting becoming a safe and effective breast enhancement procedure. Unlike traditional breast augmentation, this natural form of breast enhancement uses excess fat from your own body to improve the shape and size of your breasts. Because of the process, women benefit not only from enhancing their breasts, but also from losing excess fat from areas where it is not wanted.

What does the Fat Transfer process look like?
-- Extraction: Fatty tissue is removed from the donor area using liposuction
-- Processing: Healthy fat cells are separated from other fluids and impurities removed during the liposuction process
-- Re-injection: Drs. Ryan Rebowe or Christopher Park carefully inject the purified fat cells into the breasts

Because your body will naturally absorb some of the fat, Dr. Larsen injects just a bit more than needed so that your results meet your expectations once any swelling goes down.

If you are interested in learning more about this option, or if you are interested in breast augmentation in general, give us a call today. We would love the opportunity to speak with you about your concerns and goals. You can learn more about the other services we offer at www.parkplastics.com

Breast Reduction Clinic - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

Breast Reductions are the most common procedures we perform at The Park Clinic. We have a very unique approach to our evaluation of patients. We have an entire process dedicated to our Breast reduction Clinic

When you make an appointment for a Breast Reduction consultation you will be making an appointment to see me first. I will become your personal guide through all curves of the road ahead of you-consultation, examination, insurance approval, pre-op, surgery, recovery, and post op appointments. Over the years I have become an expert at breast reduction consultations, and I take pride and joy in discussing this surgery, examining you, and helping you to feel comfortable about the possibility of a procedure that will change your life!
At your first consultation appointment we will discuss the surgical procedure in great detail. Have all of your questions ready because I will be ready to answer them! Photos will be taken of you for insurance purposes only. I will examine you and take many measurements which are necessary to submit to your insurance company in order to obtain insurance approval. After the physical examination I will discuss in more detail about your current size, what size you would like to ideally be, and how much I feel can be removed safely while leaving you cosmetically beautiful. Certain plans allow us to submit your measurements online and you may know within minutes whether you have been approved allowing us to schedule your surgery and pre-op appointment with one of our surgeons before you leave your appointment! Some insurance companies require us to mail a letter with your measurements and pictures. If we have to mail a letter it can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to get an answer from your insurance company. Once you have heard that you have been approved you can then call our office to schedule your surgery and pre-op appointment. We do require a current mammogram within 1 year as well as a BMI less than 40 and preferably less than 35.
Your pre-op appointment will be with one of our renowned surgeons, Dr. Christopher Park or Dr. Ryan Rebowe. During this appointment you will be examined once again by the surgeon performing your surgery, and they will welcome any questions you have before your big day. Consents for surgery will also be signed by you this day and you will receive any medications you will need post-op. At this appointment we will make sure you are ready for your surgical procedure.
Your surgery can be schedule at any of the facilities where we operate. Usually the facility is dictated by the day of surgery you desire and with whom your surgery is scheduled. The actual surgery usually take around 2 ½-3 hours. All of the facilities offer impeccable care and we will be there to help comfort and relieve your anxiety. Breast reduction surgery is an outpatient procedure which means you can be discharged with your loved ones the same day. Spending the night in the hospital is a possibility if one of us feels it is necessary though. You will be sent home from the surgical facility in a bra or breast binder, so you do not need to purchase many bras before your surgery. If you want to have an extra breast garment at home for after your surgery we recommend a soft, non-wired bra and one that fastens in the front. You also may have a drain placed during surgery to remove any excess fluid during your post op time. It will be important for you to record the drainage output and bring that record with you for your 1 week post-op appointment. The medical facility will give you a drain log and post op instructions. Feel free to call our office if you have any questions though. We are always happy to answer your questions. I will see you back at our office approximately 1 week post-op. I will remove your steri strips and your drain if you have one at this time. Don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt to remove your drain!

Many patients also ask about adding other cosmetic procedures at the same time as their breast reduction surgery. It is very common for us to perform other surgical procedures at the time of a breast reduction. Some of the other common procedures include liposuction, abdominoplasty, and body contouring. We would love to discuss these other add on surgeries with you!
I hope that I have been able to answer some of your questions and calm your fears regarding breast reduction surgery. I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite surgeries because the results are immediate and I get to see how much this can change a patient’s life. I look forward to meeting you in person and guide you throughout your journey!

Post Weight Loss Body Contouring - Arm & Thigh Lifts

An arm lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the under portion of your upper arms. During an arm lift — also known as brachioplasty — excess skin and fat are removed from between the armpit and elbow.

Thigh lift surgery reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin and fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body.

Both of these are wonderful option for patients who have undergone massive weight loss either through surgery, diet, or exercise.

Breast Lifts - Breast Enhancement at The Park Clinic

Our plastic surgeons often suggest Breast Lifts in conjunction to Breast Augmentation. This can sometimes confuse patients, but in this video Dr. Ryan Rebowe discusses why he and Dr. Park suggest this so often.

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. Believe it or not, it is the most common cosmetic breast procedure done in more recent years - American Society of Plastic Surgeons statistics have shown that Breast Lifts have grown 70% since 2000, outpacing breast implants 2-to-1. As Dr. Rebowe will explain in the video, the reason for this is because often women will come in seeking implants when implants may not fix the woman's concern.

There are many reasons to get a Breast Lift. Sometimes the areola becomes enlarged over time, and a breast lift will reduce this as well. A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is more youthful and uplifted. A woman's breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes and loss of skin elasticity can result from:
-- Pregnancy
-- Breastfeeding
-- Weight fluctuations
-- Aging
-- Gravity
-- Heredity

What are the limitations of a Breast Lift alone? Breast lift surgery does not significantly change the size of your breasts or round out the upper part of your breast. If you want your breasts to look fuller, consider breast lift and breast augmentation surgery. If you want smaller breasts, consider combining breast lift and breast reduction surgery.

Call us today at (251) 340-6600 to book a consult with Dr. Christopher Park or Dr. Ryan Rebowe so we can discuss your concerns and develop a plan to achieve your goals. You can learn more about the procedures we offer at www.parkplastics.com

Rhinoplasty Overview - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

Rhinoplasty, sometimes referred to as a "nose job" or "nose reshaping" by patients, enhances facial harmony and the proportions of your nose. It can also correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose.

What all does a "nose job" treat?
- Nose size in relation to facial balance
- Nose width at the bridge or in the size and position of the nostrils
- Nose profile with visible humps or depressions on the bridge
- Nasal tip that is enlarged or bulbous, drooping, upturned or hooked
- Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned
- Nasal asymmetry

It can also treat a deviated septum, in which case the treatment may be covered by insurance. Nose surgery that's done to improve an obstructed airway requires careful evaluation of the nasal structure as it relates to airflow and breathing. Correction of a deviated septum, one of the most common causes of breathing impairment, is achieved by adjusting the nasal structure to produce better alignment.

Dr. Chris Park and Dr. Ryan Rebowe both specialize in face and body contouring procedures, and Dr. Rebowe is especially skilled with facial treatments.

If nasal symmetry is an area of concern for you then please do not hesitate to come see us for a consultation. A consultation with us is only $75 and it does not obligate you to have a surgery done. Just come have a conversation with us about your concerns and goals! Give us a call today at (251) 340-6600, and visit our website to learn more at www.parkplastics.com

Necklift vs. Facelift - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

Neck lift (also called platysmaplasty) is a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the neck to address age-related wrinkling and creasing in this area, and provide a smoother, slimmer profile.

Getting a neck lift starts with a candid discussion with one of our surgeons. You and our expert will talk about your medical history and your general health, skin condition, scarring tendency and other factors in the context of what you hope to achieve by getting a neck lift.

The procedure takes several hours, during which the surgeon makes small incisions around and behind your ears, and a very small one under the chin. The surgeon carefully lifts the muscles of the neck and removes extra skin and fat, then closes the incisions and applies a pressure dressing around your head and underneath the chin. Recovery from a neck lift takes several weeks. Following your surgeon’s post-surgery instructions is very important. You will receive details on addressing swelling and bruising and managing any discomfort.

Mini Tummy Tuck - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

A "mini-tummy tuck" improves the lower belly with less extensive surgery. Are you mainly bothered by a “pooch” or loose skin and stretch marks below the belly button, or a C-section s car? A mini-tummy tuck may be a good option for you. This technique involves a single incision made just above the pubic mound, through which your cosmetic surgeon will tighten loose muscles (flattening the “pooch”) and remove excess skin to restore a smooth, flat abdominal wall.

The resulting scar from a mini-tummy tuck is a thin, horizontal line that is typically just a few inches long. Benefits of a mini-tummy tuck include a shorter, less involved procedure, a quicker recovery, and a flatter, slimmer lower abdomen that looks better in swimsuits and fitted clothing.

The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery physicians often use this technique when doing a C-section scar revision. While many C-section surgeries result in barely noticeable, horizontal scars below the underwear line, there are times when large, raised, discolored, painful or even vertical scarring happens. The C-section scar revision procedure is used to reduce to the scar that remains after a cesarean section and creates a more subtle appearance. The usual method for a C-section scar revision involves opening the incision and reclosing it carefully with a precision surgical technique that reduces the size of the scar.

Mommy Make Over - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

The goal of a mommy makeover is to restore the shape and appearance of a woman's body after childbearing. Many women notice changes in their bodies post-pregnancy. There are many areas of the body that can be addressed, most commonly the breasts, abdomen, waist, genitalia and buttocks. A mommy makeover is typically performed as a single stage procedure.

Procedures that can be done during a Mommy Makeover:
-- Breast Augmentation
-- Breast Lift
-- Buttock Augmentation
-- Liposuction
-- Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
-- Vaginal Rejuvenation

The mommy makeover is one of today's most popular combination plastic surgery techniques, designed specifically to address common issues faced by women who have been through pregnancy and breastfeeding. This is a great way for a woman to personalize her body's restoration post-pregnancy and breastfeeding.

In the procedure combination in the video above is a Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift, and Abdominoplasty. A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. Breast augmentation involves using breast implants or fat transfer to increase the size of your breasts. This procedure can also restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy, achieve a more rounded breast shape or improve natural breast size asymmetry. Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin and, in most cases, restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer.

This is one of the most common procedures our physicians perform at The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery because it is the most customizable of all the procedures we offer. A patient, in one operation, can address multiple areas of concern. To learn more about the services offered at The Park Clinic visit our website at www.parkplastics.com

DIEP Flap Breast Cancer Reconstruction - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

A DIEP flap is a type of breast reconstruction in which blood vessels called deep inferior epigastric perforators (DIEP), as well as the skin and fat connected to them, are removed from the lower abdomen and transferred to the chest to reconstruct a breast after mastectomy without the sacrifice of the patient's abdominal wall.

Dr. Rebowe gives a quick overview of why the procedure is optimal for the breast cancer victim and what makes the outcome better than a few other options.

Dr. Park and Dr. Rebowe are the only physicians that offer the DIEP flap procedure in the Mobile area.

Breast reconstruction flaps create a breast by moving tissue from another part of one’s own body (autologous). The advantages are increased durability to radiation, more natural shape and feel, and the ability to add tissue where tissue is missing. In suitable patients, Dr. Park prefers flap reconstruction. Blood supply is critical for flap reconstruction and is impaired in patients who are smokers, diabetic, obese, or suffer from vascular disease, collagen vascular disease, and autoimmune diseases. The most common source for breast reconstruction flaps is the abdomen. The primary advantage of using abdominal tissue is that it provides the most cosmetic and natural breast reconstruction in women with the best skin and texture match to the breast. In addition, a modified version of an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is performed at the same time, but this should not drive the decision. The potential complications of implants are also usually avoided.

The skin and fat of the lower abdominal wall, normally discarded in a tummy tuck operation, are elevated and moved to the chest using either the rectus muscle as a pedicle or hinge with blood supply (Pedicled Transverse Rectus Abdominis Myocutaneous /TRAM flap), disconnecting the tissues blood supply to the muscle and skin and moving it to the chest (Free Transverse Rectus Abdominis Myocutaneous / Free TRAM flap), a free TRAM with limited muscle (Muscle sparing free TRAM), or moving the tissue based only on a blood vessel, skin, and fat (Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator / DIEP flap). The last 3 options mentioned are much more complicated and time intensive, requiring division of vessels and reconnection to blood vessels in the chest or armpit using a microscope, similar to a transplant. Once completed, the amount of blood flow is greater than the pedicled TRAM, but there is a risk of thrombosis (clotting) of the anastamoses, creating the need for urgent reoperation and the risk of complete loss of the flap. These procedures should only be performed by those experienced in their use.

Tissue Matrix In Breast Cancer Reconstruction Patients

Have you ever heard of a "tissue matrix" in breast cancer reconstruction? Dr. Christopher Park and Dr. Ryan Rebowe of The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery use tissue matrices often in the breast cancer reconstruction cases they perform.

"Tissue matrix" is a generic term referring to large sheets of collagen matrix used in breast cancer reconstruction to help add soft tissue support to implant based breast reconstruction. The native skin will incorporate this matrix and it will become part of the mastectomy skin flaps, decrease the rate of capsular contracture, and allow for more precise placement of the tissue expander or implant used in your reconstruction. In some cases a tissue matrix allows us to place the implant above the muscle.

In the video above you see a smooth round moderate plus silicone implant used for a "direct to implant" reconstruction following a nipple sparing mastectomy. Using an implant to rebuild the breast requires less surgery than flap reconstruction, since it only involves the chest area (and not a tissue donor site). Still, it may require more than one procedure. It also may require additional surgery in the future, as implants can wear out and develop other issues, such as tightness of scar tissue around the implant. Implants may be a good option for thin women with small breasts because these women often don't have enough extra tissue on their bellies, backs, thighs, or buttocks to form a good breast shape as required by flap reconstruction. Implant reconstruction is also a good option if:

-- You’d like to avoid incisions in other parts of the body (donor sites) or sacrificing the muscle structure in donor sites. Also keep in mind that the newest flap procedures preserve muscle and may be worth exploring if you’re concerned about this.
-- You do not need radiation therapy. There is a high chance of developing problems in an implant reconstruction after radiation.
-- You can’t or don’t want to endure a lengthier flap reconstruction operation.
-- You are willing to surgically alter your healthy breast to achieve symmetry or balance. It is not always easy to match an implant, which has a fixed shape, to the remaining natural breast.

All of your options when it comes to breast cancer reconstruction will be discussed at length with Dr. Ryan Rebowe or Dr. Christopher Park at your initial consultation with The Park Clinic. We pride ourselves on being the premiere breast cancer reconstruction practice in the Mobile, Alabama area. We perform well over 100 breast cancer reconstructions annually, and we are the only practice along the Alabama Gulf Coast that offers the DIEP Flap reconstruction option for patients. In the past, the nearest option for patients interested in this option had to travel out of state.

Abdominoplasty ("Tummy Tuck") - The Park Clinic

The abdominoplasty is probably the procedure that Dr. Park and Dr. Rebowe are best known for. These are extremely exciting procedures and very rewarding for both the patient and physician. It can also be combined with other procedures such as breast augmentation, liposuction, arm lifts, and the like to become what is commonly referred to as a "Mommy Makeover".

To learn more about the services we offer visit our website at www.theparkplasticsurgery.com

An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is a major surgery that removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen. The surgery also tightens muscles. It can be appropriate for women who have had many pregnancies or anyone who has lot a lot of weight. An abdominoplasty is a cosmetic operation not covered by insurance aimed at re-contouring the abdominal wall, but muscle tightening also may improve low back discomfort and strength. The operation can be safely performed in an operating room facility with general anesthesia, deep sedation, or epidural block. Incisions are designed to place scars under a preferred underwear or bathing suit pattern. After elevating the abdominal wall and re-draping, excess skin and fat are removed and the abdominal muscles are tightened if necessary to improve the waist line. Often the vertical abdominal muscles are separated, a “diastasis rectus,” and the hourglass narrowing above the hips are lost, both of which can be improved with internal sutures. The existing navel (umbilicus) is preserved and transposed. The procedure takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Who makes the best candidate for a tummy tuck? A tummy tuck is suitable for both men and women who are in good general health overall and are at a stable weight. It is best to be a non-smoker. A tummy tuck should not be confused with a liposuction (the cosmetic surgery used to remove fat deposits), although your surgeon may choose to perform liposuction as part of a tummy tuck. Women who have muscles and skin stretched after several pregnancies may find the procedure useful to tighten those muscles and reduce that skin. A tummy tuck is also an alternative for men or women who were obese at one point in their lives, and still have excessive fat deposits or loose skin in the abdominal area.

Down time with a tummy tuck: Overnight observation, drainage tubes, maintaining a flexed position, and a compression binder are routine. Pain can be controlled initially with prescription medication, but tapers rapidly several days after the procedure. There will be a general soreness of the muscles and the back for several weeks. Laying and standing straight can be resumed at 7 – 10 days as tolerated. Most individuals return to work 3 weeks later depending on requirements. Strenuous activity and lifting (20 + pounds) can slowly escalate between 6 weeks and 12 weeks. The downsides are the scar and common surgical risks: fluid collections, bleeding, infection, and healing difficulties.

Breast Reduction - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

Dr. Christopher Park and Dr. Ryan Rebowe of The park Clinic for Plastic Surgery do more breast reduction procedures than anyone else on the Alabama Gulf Coast. For those seeking breast reduction surgery we are the premiere clinic for you. Our clinic has an entire process dedicated to breast reductions that provides holistic and optimal care to those seeking breast reductions from the consultation, to the operating room, to post operative care. To learn more about this process you can visit our web page discussing our Breast Reduction Clinic: https://www.theparkplasticsurgery.com/breast-cosmetic-surgery-mobile/breast-reduction-clinic/

Large, heavy breasts can cause a number of problems including neck pain, back pain, bra strap grooving, upper extremity nerve compression, rashes, or yeast infections, as well as considerable embarrassment, especially to younger women and teenagers. Women experiencing any of these problems may be candidates for a breast reduction. A breast reduction removes excess tissue and returns the descended nipple/areola to a more normal size and position, producing more comfortable, proportional, and aesthetic breasts. Excessively large breasts (macromastia) are often the result of increased sensitivity to estrogen and may occur due to genetics, weight gain, or endocrine disorders. Teenagers may develop macromastia with hormonal changes known as virginal hypertrophy and observation is recommended as it may improve or recur if a reduction is performed in teenagers, but if significantly traumatic to the psyche, a reduction mammoplasty can be helpful.

The biggest drawback to a breast reduction is scarring, although most patients are happy with the trade off. Most breasts will require an inferior pedicle wise pattern reduction which leaves scars that extend around the areola, down to the inframammary fold, and across the inframammary fold in the shape of an anchor. Certain smaller breast can be reduced without the transverse scar below the breast, using a vertical breast reduction technique either medially or superiorly based pedicle. This method often leaves some excess skin at the bottom of the breast that dissipates in time, but may require a minor excision later. Projection is often greater with this technique, but 6 – 12 weeks of settling is necessary before the final result is appreciated. The nipple is left attached to blood and nerve supply and rotated up before adjusting the skin envelope for closure. Sensation, nipple survival, and nipple function should remain normal. Patients with extremely large breasts (gigantomastia) may require a technique where the lower breast is removed and the nipple is transferred as a free graft, disrupting the sensation and functional ducts.

Breast Implants & Tummy Tuck ("Mommy Makeover")- The Park Clinic

We love doing combo surgeries on patients that want to address multiple areas of concern! We are able to offer many different combinations that are commonly referred to as "mommy makeovers". These combinations can be breast augmentation, breast lift, abdominoplasty, belt lipectomy, buttocks augmentation, liposuction, arm lifts, thigh lifts, neck lifts, and many more.

In this surgery we perform breast augmentation with implants and a tummy tuck. To view our before and after gallery for these procedures visit the following website:

Breast augmentation — also known as augmentation mammoplasty — is surgery to increase breast size. It involves placing breast implants under breast tissue or chest muscles. For some women, breast augmentation is a way to feel more confident. For others, it's part of rebuilding the breast for various conditions.

There are many different types of breast implants available to patients:

Saline breast implants are filled with sterile salt water. Should the implant shell leak, a saline implant will collapse and the saline will be absorbed and naturally expelled by the body. Saline breast implants provide a uniform shape, firmness and feel, and are FDA-approved for augmentation in women age 18 or older.

Structured saline breast implants -- Structured implants are filled with sterile salt water, and contain an inner structure which aims to make the implant feel more natural.

Silicone breast implants -- Silicone breast implants are filled with silicone gel. The gel feels a bit more like natural breast tissue. If the implant leaks, the gel may remain within the implant shell, or may escape into the breast implant pocket. A leaking implant filled with silicone gel will not collapse. If you choose silicone implants, you may need to visit your plastic surgeon regularly to make sure the implants are functioning properly. An ultrasound or MRI screening can assess the condition of breast implants. Silicone breast implants are FDA-approved for augmentation in women age 22 or older.

Gummy bear breast implants -- Form-stable implants are sometimes referred to as gummy bear breast implants because they maintain their shape even when the implant shell is broken. The consistency of the silicone gel inside the implant is thicker than traditional silicone gel implants. These implants are also firmer than traditional implants. Shaped gummy bear breast implants have more projection at the bottom and are tapered towards the top. If a shaped implant rotates, it may lead to an unusual appearance of the breast that requires a separate procedure to correct. Placement of gummy bear implants requires a slightly longer incision in the skin.

Round breast implants -- Round breast implants have a tendency to make breasts appear fuller than form-stable implants. Higher profile options can achieve even more projection. Because round implants are the same shape all over, there is less concern about them rotating out of place.

Smooth breast implants -- Smooth breast implants are the softest feeling. They can move with the breast implant pocket, which may give more natural movement. Smooth implants may have some palpable or visible rippling under the skin.

Textured breast implants -- Textured breast implants develop scar tissue to stick to the implant, making them less likely to move around inside of the breast and become repositioned. Texturing offers some advantage in diminishing the risk of a tight scar capsule.

Breast Lift & Liposuction of Abdomen - The Park Clinic

One of the wonderful things about plastic surgery is that we can combine a number of procedures so that we are able to customize each patient's experience based on their needs and their concerns. Often times the combinations of these procedures are referred to "Mommy Makeovers". The Park Clinic has offered Mommy Makeover procedures to the Alabama Gulf Coast for over a decade.

In this combination case our founding physician, Dr. Chris Park, performs a breast lift procedure (mastopexy) and also does some abdominal contouring by performing liposuction. Once again, this is a way that we are able to customize our patients' experience based on their main areas of concern. We have posted a number of Mommy Makeover videos on here, and no two are the same.

To view our gallery of before & after photos visit the link below. You can view all of our services offered and even pick out which procedures you yourself would combine were you to get a Mommy Makeover:

Returning to our discussion on the case in the video above, below is more information on the individual procedures combined in this Mommy Makeover.

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour.

New statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons show breast lifts have grown 70% since 2000, outpacing breast implants 2-to-1.

Weight fluctuations

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that uses a suction technique to remove fat from specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms or neck. Liposuction also shapes (contours) these areas. Other names for liposuction include lipoplasty and body contouring of the abdomen, buttocks, flanks, and limbs.

Scar Revision - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

The degree of improvement that can be achieved with scar revision will depend on the severity of your scarring, and the type, size and location of the scar. In some cases, a single technique may provide significant improvement. However, your plastic surgeon may recommend a combination of scar revision techniques to achieve the best results.

Topical treatments, such as gels, tapes or external compression, can help in wound closure and healing, or to reduce the ability of skin to produce irregular pigment. These products may be used to treat existing surface scars and discoloration, and to aid in the healing of scar revision procedures.

Injectable treatments may also be used. Dermal filler can be used to fill depressed or concave scars. Depending on the injectable substance used and your particular scar conditions, results may last from three months to several years. Therapy must be repeated to maintain results. Another form of injection therapy uses steroidal-based compounds to reduce collagen formation and can alter the appearance, size and texture of raised scar tissue.

Surface treatments are most often used for cosmetic improvement of scars. These methods can soften surface irregularities and reduce uneven pigmentation. Surface treatments are a controlled means of either mechanically removing the top layers of skin or changing the nature of tissue.

Cyst Removal - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

Dr. Ryan Rebowe of The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery performs a quick cyst removal. This is a quick and easy procedure that we do in our office. The procedure can be performed under general or local anesthesia depending on the size of the cyst. This procedure is often covered by insurance.

Cysts are usually benign slow growing “sacks” of tissue that can occur anywhere on the body, though often found on the face and scalp. Cysts can drain, rupture, grow larger, become infected, and deform surrounding tissue. Careful removal is recommended. Common benign bumps include lipoma, epidermal inclusion cyst, sebaceous cyst, infundibular cyst, pilar cyst, dermoid cyst, pilomatrixoma, pilomatricoma, osteoid osteoma. Removal provides an opportunity to determine a diagnosis. Imaging studies such as CT scan, MRI or Ultrasound may be helpful though rarely necessary.

How Much Lip Filler Is In One Syringe? - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

Dr. Park and Dr. Rebowe get asked often about how much filler is in one syringe of filler. Most often this is asked because the patient is worried about looking "over-filled".

In this video, Dr. Rebowe places the filler from one CC of Versa onto a piece of gauze to illustrate the volume of a single syringe.

Ruptured Implant In An Older Generation Implant - The Park Clinic

Dr. Rebowe has discussed ruptured implants recently in another video. In this video, while doing an explant on a patient, he stops to show viewers what an older generation implant looks like when ruptured in the body. This particular implant is about 30 years old.

Last week we posted about gummy bear implants and cohesive gels. This case illustrates why the newer generation implants were developed. Older implants had a very thin gel that tended to leak through their thin silicone shells, and the same silicone shells had a tendency to rupture even with minor trauma. Today’s implants are much stronger and typically do not rupture except for extreme circumstances. When they do, rupture is typically contained within the scar capsule around the implant due to the cohesive or “gummy” nature of the gel. Thinner gels of older implants do have a tendency to leak into tissues if left long enough, however this patient thankfully had an intra-capsular rupture. Both implants and the scar capsule in this case were removed in order to ensure no silicone remained.

The implant is a silicone shell filled with sterile saline (salt water) or silicone gel. The silicone gel filled implants have been again used for cosmetic use after FDA clearance in 2006 after the highly publicized controversy regarding the long term health consequences of silicone gel implants. The findings of all research studies have not demonstrated any consistent relationship between silicone breast implants and systemic illness. The new generation of implants is less prone to the slow silicone leak (bleed) that was felt to be responsible for most of the local problems with silicone implants. Gel implants are more soft and natural, especially when there is less overlying breast tissue, but they do require larger incisions than their saline counterparts since they are prefilled.

Thighplasty (aka "Thigh Lift") - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

Thigh Lifts are a very popular procedure at The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery in Mobile, Alabama. Thigh lift surgery reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin and fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body.

If fitness and weight control efforts have not achieved your goals for a body that is firmer, more youthful-looking and more proportionate to your overall body image, a surgical lift may be right for you. Thigh lifts can also be an option if you have undergone significant weight loss and have excessive skin along the thighs from the body's transformation.

Schedule a consultation with Dr. Park, Dr. Rebowe, or our Cosmetic Coordinator today to explore whether a thigh lift is an option for you!

Christopher Park, MD - Ideal Implants

When considering breast implants, women want a beautiful, natural, and safe result that doesn’t leave them wondering whether their implant has ruptured silently. The IDEAL IMPLANT Structured Breast Implant is the latest implant technology designed by a plastic surgeon to give women the best of both worlds—the beautiful look and natural feel they want, with the safety of only saline inside.

Dr. Chris Park of The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery discusses why more of his patients are interested in The IDEAL Implant. The physicians at The Park Clinic utilize a variety of implants to accommodate patients' goals. Offering The IDEAL Implant is one of many ways we cater to our patients' desires.

Ryan Rebowe, MD - The IDEAL Implant

Dr. Ryan Rebowe of The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery gives a quick over view of his experience with The IDEAL Implant and what he is hearing from his patients.

The unique design of the IDEAL IMPLANT is what gives it a natural feel and youthful look, without using silicone gel. It has a series of implant shells nested together and two separate chambers that hold the saline. It is made with standard implant materials, yet uses an advanced internal structure to control movement of the saline and support the implant edges to reduce collapse and wrinkling.

Silicone implants have historically been the preferred choice by patients because they provide the best cosmetic appearance when compared to saline implants. However, saline implants are slightly safer when concerning implant ruptures. The IDEAL Implant's design allows it to give patients the silicone look without the silicone risk if ruptured. When intact, silicone gel implants are FDA approved and safe. But when they rupture, the FDA states the “implant and any gel should be removed.” Yet silicone gel ruptures are silent, meaning they can only be detected by an MRI, so the FDA recommends that women have an MRI scan every other year to find out if their implants have ruptured. IDEAL IMPLANT offers a natural feel without these concerns. The IDEAL IMPLANT has a natural feel without risk of silent rupture, a youthful shape and contour, and many advantages women value over round silicone gel implants. You will always know your implants are intact simply by looking in the mirror, because you shouldn’t have to choose between natural feel and peace of mind.

What 30 Year Old Implants Look Like When Removed - The Park Clinic

Dr. Rebowe removed 30-year old breast implants from a patient due to one rupturing. In this quick video he shows viewers what a ruptured implant looks like. He also explains why it is important to have annual exams by your plastic surgeon to make sure that your implants have not ruptured.

Free Tissue Transfer of Lower Extremity - The Park Clinic

In this video Dr. Rebowe walks viewers through how he closes a leg wound that resulted from a bone fracture using a free flap technique by taking tissue from the patient’s thigh and attaching it to the patient’s ankle wound. This is the area of plastic surgery that is not often talked about or glorified but is equally as gratifying because of the skill required to perform free tissue transfers.

Tissue transfers are a form of "microsurgery" performed by plastic surgeons. Reconstructive microsurgery is a surgical discipline in which specialized operating microscopes and precision instrumentation are used to repair intricate structures such as blood vessels and nerves less than a few millimeters in diameter. This field has made a major impact to restore form and function to individuals impaired by trauma, cancer and congenital anomalies.

Microsurgery is a tool used by many plastic surgeons to perform specific procedures including transfer of tissue from one part of the body to another (free tissue transfer), reattachment of severed parts (replantation) and composite tissue transplantation.

Microsurgical procedures represent a wide range of highly individualized operations. Microsurgical reconstruction is typically reserved for complex reconstructive surgery problems when other options (primary closure, skin grafting, local or regional flap transfer) are inadequate.

Dr. Christopher Park and Dr. Ryan Rebowe perform very many microsurgical procedures at The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery. We offer the widest range of reconstructive surgeries to the Mobile, Alabama area. Whether you need us for reconstructive or cosmetic needs, feel free to reach out to us to explore your options!

Capsulectomy Procedure - The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery

A capsulectomy refers to the surgical removal of the capsule (made of scar tissue) that forms naturally around breast implants. This surgery is typically used to treat a complication of breast augmentation, removing implant ruptures, or breast reconstruction surgery called capsule contracture. We perform many of these at The Park Clinic for Plastic Surgery in Mobile, Alabama. Most of the time when we perform these surgeries they are due to implant ruptures.

All types of breast implants have an outer, silicone shell that can potentially develop a tear or hole called a rupture. A saline implant also has a valve that can fail, causing a leak. The chance that your implant will rupture or leak increases over time. Implant rupture can happen because of normal aging of the implant, trauma caused by a car accident, a needle insertion during a biopsy, or other factors.

The New Building - 3700 Dauphin Street

Here is a virtual tour of our new building! We have been working on this building since late December 2020 and we recently moved in late September 2021.

Dr. Ryan Rebowe joined Dr. Chris Park in 2019 and shortly after that we began gearing up for a move to a larger facility so that we could better accommodate the Alabama Gulf Coast. We are very excited for this new move because we feel it allows a much more luxurious experience for our patients than our previous location!

Sternum Closure - The PR Clinic for Plastic Surgery

Dr. Ryan Rebowe, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, walks viewers through a sternum closure following open heart surgery.

As plastic surgeons, we get to take part in some pretty cool surgeries that overlap with other specialties. We get to perform combo cases with orthopedic surgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons, gastro surgeons, and many other specialists. In these combo cases our primary role is closure of the wound or surgical site so that it heals properly and does not leave the patient with any glaring deformity.

These combination cases are one of the idiosyncrasies that make plastic surgery so much fun for Dr. Rebowe and Dr. Park. In a typical day we may start our day off with operating on a breast cancer patient, to helping close a wound in a combo case like the one in the video above, to performing a breast reduction, to finishing our day with a breast augmentation surgery. In one day we are able to touch so many different patients in different stages of life and who each present very unique challenges.

We hope this video highlights the breadth to which plastic surgeons touch lives on a daily basis.

Bilateral Breast Reduction Q&A - The PR Clinic for Plastic Surgery

Bilateral Breast Reductions are one of our most popular surgeries here at The Park & Rebowe Clinic for Plastic Surgery.

We have a video that goes more in depth on our process for treating breast reduction patients that can be found here (https://www.theparkplasticsurgery.com/breast-cosmetic-surgery-mobile/breast-reduction-clinic/). In this video our Physician Assistant, Lindsey Beville, revisits common questions that she gets when doing the initial breast reduction consultations.

Silagen & BioCorneum for Scar Treatment - The PR Med Spa

Tabitha and Brittany, our medical aestheticians, take a timeout to discuss Silagen and BioCorneum products with our viewers. These two products are some of our go-to products for scar therapy. In fact, we love it so much, that we include them with some of our cosmetic surgery purchases such as Tummy Tucks, Belt Lipectomies, Breast Lifts, Facelifts, and many others. These products help our patients protect the investments they make when electing cosmetic surgery. Patients undergo body-altering surgeries and if the surgical sites are not properly maintained throughout the healing process they can sometimes be left with scars that they are unhappy with. Pairing these large surgeries with these skin care products is our formula for significantly reducing the chances of patients having scarring.
